Fido Biography

Fido (Awosika Olayemi Josiah) is a Nigerian Afro-fusion singer and songwriter from Matogun, Ogun State. He began singing in church and rose to prominence in 2024 after his breakout tracks Awolowo and Joy Is Coming gained widespread attention. In 2025, he released his debut EP Olayemi, a project blending Afrobeats with personal, soulful storytelling. His rapid rise has been marked by both commercial success and controversy, including disputes with his former record label over unpaid advances and criticism of exploitative music-marketing practices. Musically, Fido is known for emotional delivery, spiritual themes, and a fusion of Afrobeats, R&B, and trap influences. He is considered one of Nigeria’s most promising new-wave artists.
