Kcee Biography
Kcee (born Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo on April 18, 1979) is a celebrated Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer known for his energetic stage presence and chart-topping hits like “Limpopo” and “Ojapiano.” He was born in Ajegunle, Lagos State and hails from Anambra State, giving him deep roots in both Lagos’ vibrant music scene and Eastern Nigerian culture.
Kcee’s musical journey began in 1999 as one half of the duo KC Presh, alongside his friend Precious John (Presh). The duo rose to prominence after winning the Star Quest talent show in 2002, which helped cement their place in Nigeria’s music industry. After years of performing together, the duo parted ways in 2011, paving the way for Kcee’s solo career.
He quickly made a name for himself with the 2013 hit “Limpopo,” which became a national sensation. He followed this success with multiple singles and his debut solo album, Take Over.
Kcee is known for blending Afro-pop, Highlife, and Amapiano styles, creating music that appeals to both traditional and contemporary audiences. He also co-owns Five Star Music with his brother, E-Money, and remains one of Nigeria’s most influential music figures.
